Let's get the reel spiel about the movies out there to rent.

Amongst all those blockbusters, it's nice to sit down to a great movie that may not have had the exposure it should have had. Here you can find those gems you may have missed, those you should miss, & those with a few unwarranted surprises.

I will do my best to help you find a worthy pick that won't waste your time by looking at four types of movies.
First, the "Hidden Gems & Forgotten Flics", those movies you may have missed or never gotten around to. Second, the "Don't Bother" movies that just aren't worth your time. Next, the "Whoa!" movies that take you by surprise in a negative way due to gratuitous "something". Lastly, the "Misleading or Heavyhearted" movies that may leave you well, heavyhearted.

Here's to finding great movies and avoiding the rest!

Gamer

2009 (R)
Genre: Sci-Fi, Thriller, Suspense
Gerard Butler, Michael C. Hall, Amber Valletta, Kyra Sedgwick, Ludicris

"Whoa!"
A futuristic film using Sim technology and implanting it into humans that are controlled by online gamers. Conceptually this movie had intriguing possibilities. Unfortunately, it is nonstop gratuitous violence, sex, gore, and language. In addition to typical "R" material, there is disgusting behavior (I actually was nauseated watching the gamer controlling Amber Valletta and had to look away), nudity, strong sexual content, and language even stronger the the f-word. As stated in the "Common Sense Note" report, "the filmmakers seem to get great pleasure from trying to offend audiences". This movie is NOT for anyone under 18. Overall, you would probably feel uncomfortable watching this with your mother, let alone by yourself. It wasn't worth the time.
